(NASBu) It is strange to suppose, as the critic does, that Luke is giving here a list of Joseph's forefathers with the introduction "being, as supposed the son of Joseph". Of course we have to read "being – as supposed the son of Joseph – the son of Eli, …" In the old texts no reading marks are given, so we have to deduce them from the text logic. This also implies that Eli was the grandfather of Jesus and the father of Mary.
No Bible Contradiction

27. Thus Jesus was a descendant of Nathan, according to the rule: “a son of a son-in-law is a son”. However the biological fahter of Shealtiel was Jeconiah who was grandson of Josiah (Matthew 1:11). And so Jesus was also a descendant of Solomon, but not via Joseph.
No Bible Contradiction

28. Which son of Zerubbabel was an ancestor of Jesus Christ?
Abiud (Matthew 1:13)
No, he was a forefather of Joseph.

Rhesa (Luke 3:27)
Yes, that’s right; he was a forefather of Mary.

But the seven sons of Zerubbabel are as follows: i. Meshullam, ii. Hananiah, iii. Hashubah, iv. Ohel, v. Berechiah, vi. Hasadiah, vii. Jushabhesed (I Chronicles 3:19,20). The names Abiud and Rhesa do not fit in anyway.
Of course not; The list of Matthew gives only 9 names between Zerubbabel and Joseph, while the list of Luke gives 18 names between Zerubbabel and Heli the grandfather of Jesus (father of Mary). This means that many names in Matthew's list are left out. Abiud is certainly a grandson of Zerubbabel according to the rule: a grandson is a son.
Final remark. A biblical genealogy is often a copy of a document for personal identification with an official mark on the original document. Such document or copy does not give the evidence of complete descent but of personal descent. Sometimes several lists are used for longer genealogies, as in Matthew and Luke.
No Bible Contradiction

30.
